20TH STREET RESIDENCE

This house is an aggregation of separate elements positioned to create more complex and spatial relationships to each other. An overlaying grid subdivides the lot into a series of exterior gardens and interior rooms.  Moving through the house is a constantly changing play of inside and outside. The openness of the plan and the large sheets of glass that dominate the perimeter walls create spaces that rhythmically contract and expand out to the gardens.  The finish materials are left untouched to express their natural beauty, providing warmth and a sense of permanence to the house.
