Rosenblum Residence

Los Angeles, California | 2005

This master suite addition to a one-story single-family residence required reworking a traditional California bungalow floor plan where all the high-priority spaces face the front of the house (living room/master bedroom) and lower priority spaces are pushed to the rear (laundry/second bedroom). The challenge was to seamlessly integrate an addition that would attach to the laundry room and one bedroom. The solution was to convert the existing laundry room into a connecting gallery space from the middle of the existing house (dining/hallway) to the new master suite. Although small in size, this gallery became the new center of the house and was essential to creating a more balanced, modern floor plan.
