For this invited competition, a new classroom building was positioned adjacent to an existing structure and defined an edge of an open plaza. It was vital that new building support and engage the plaza and that its façade be consistent with those nearby. The vertical column lines of the building were extended into the landscape with the same material as the façade. These lines then served both an aesthetic and functional connection to the building, guiding pedestrians into the new structure.
